OUR TEACHERS

We are so lucky to have amazing teachers who nurture and steer our students in the right direction. They unlock potential and help to understand the art within dance.

REBECCA KNIGHT

Becky Knight is a teacher for RTDA and started her dancing journey with Rozie when she was 10 years old. After completing a foundation diploma at NSCD, she then went on to the degree course and graduated with a first class honours degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Becky then went on to complete an apprenticeship with Motionhouse Dance Company, later joining the company as a full time dancer and community teacher. Becky has danced professionally both with Motionhouse and as a freelance dancer for several companies in the West Midlands. She has also choreographed for RTDA’s Elite competition team over the past few years and loves creating new, dynamic and challenging work to be showcased across the UK. She loves passing on all she has learnt in the industry to others and wants to inspire the next generation of dancers.

GUEST TEACHER

CRAIG WHARMBY

We are so delighted to have Craig as part of the teaching team at the Rozie T Academy. He has trained some of the biggest and brightest dancers and artists, as well as choreographing 1000's of shows and performed himself in top theatres... and if that’s not enough you will often see Craig featuring in pop videos.

For the past 12 years he has lectured dance at LIPA, the Paul McCartney ‘Fame’ school in Liverpool - and he brings his immense talent to support and train our students at Rozie T Academy.

From his early beginnings at the Pat Thompson Dance School in Liverpool and then the Liverpool Theatre School, Craig had a passion for choreography and teaching and by the time he was 18 he had formed his own dance school which went on to become the biggest in Liverpool with 250 members.

Always looking for the next challenge he became the commercial choreographer on the British TV series ‘Dance Mums’ and opened AYAW? Dance Studios, his own studio in Liverpool.

“My passion has always been teaching, lots of people can dance... but not everyone can teach! To me the student is the most important thing in the studio and its my job to bring out the best in each and everyone of them, no matter what their age or ability, and that's what I do and I absolutely love that. I want to help the next generation of dancers achieve their goals and with good training and having the right contacts and knowing the right agencies, I'm hopefully helping them take a step closer to their dream”

Debbie C

If RozieT is the creative power behind RTDA, Debbie is the glue that manages to keep it all functioning.

Originally one of our Dance Mums, Debbie began helping out with the sometimes staggering amount of paperwork the Academy generates, making herself increasingly valuable as time went by.

Right now, we cannot imagine the Academy without her effort.

As well as being a brilliant administrator and our principle cheerleader, Debbie is also a paramedic in training, whose grounded sense of humour and unflappable nature make her an invaluable member of the RTDA family
